by jcmobilepublished on December 27, 2019

Being miseducated can be more harmful than being uneducated. Most of what we learn about finances comes from our environment and our parents. As the daughter of a orphaned teenage single mom; Portia learned firsthand the benefits of resiliency, hard work and commitment. As a result she has spent her entire career in the financial services industry serving Detroit with commitment and dedication. She is a Certified Public Funds Investment Manager and currently serves as VP of Chemical Bank overseeing the operations of the multi-billion dollar Municipal Banking department. She was the recipient of the 40 under 40 award from both Michigan Chronicle and Crain’s Detroit Business. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community
